Come in, see what’s

Come in, see what's
rattling in the bottom of my closet
my life
huddling there
in the discarded clothing.
Look, there's that shirt I won't wear those old morals I thought I could still
pull past my hips
and you were the one who insisted
let me in, show me the inside
and here we are
looking down at the puke
white trash
rotting roots of my heart
of earlier years when I still thought
it was possible to pull a wardrobe for my soul
out of what you value more
than my self-respect.
