no more laughter

no more laughter
no use for lying, now
the endgame's well and truly lost
the hunters have circled the ice
and left no escape
why struggle to the slaughterblock?
Death's no more than a formality
behind concrete walls
the final shock of arcing electricity
touches a mind already gone
the poison of radiation brushes
and leave a man standing, alive
but ready for his coffin.
seventy years or more I have to wait
for the clubs to fall and turn the snow
into bloody slush
seventy years with the trap around me
seventy years to see death coming
and stand impotent before it.
